Mediterranean Decor And Furniture Pieces To Cheer Up Your Living Space

Mediterranean decor can bring that carefree, bright and windswept feeling of being on vacation in a beautiful, ocean-side resort back into your heart. The Mediterranean Basin merges Turkish, Italian, Spanish, Greek and Moroccan designs that could add a splash of refreshing boldness and charm to your daily dwelling space, transforming it into a retreat chalk full of cultural tradition.

Why such vivid colors? The Mediterranean people believed that mix-and-matching, using vibrant colors was a way of showing individuality and ethnic pride in a world where rulers were always coming and going. Additionally, the bright-painted houses located on terraced cliffs also helped sailors recognize their particular homes from the sea, where they made their livings fishing.

In your living room, contemporary Mediterranean decor strives for simplicity, with bright white paint and furniture, relying on stylish accents – for example: the Fez lantern or the Cleopatra’s Star throw pillows. A popular choice for living room Mediterranean décor is texturized walls with Mediterranean setting artwork and sheer white curtains. You can also choose to install a “Moorish” ceiling made of ornate woodwork to give your room a unique, Church-like serenity, while the “Imperial Moroccan” door reveals additional medieval character in your living room space. Both the “Mediterranean Table” and the “Farah Table” offer contemporary designs. Large windows, tropical plants and an Alexandria vase can make a nice addition to your room. If the living room isn’t all that large, adding the Arabesque mirror can give the illusion of having more space.

In the kitchen, some decorators paint their walls with vivid sunset red, cobalt blue or egg yolk yellow. Others choose blue and gold mosaic tile for countertops, dining room tables and stove backdrops. In the window, terra cotta pots filled with spices and herbs or brilliantly reflective vases is a nice touch. You can throw brightly-colored dish sets into the mix for a kitchen with truly Mediterranean décor.

Most Mediterranean bathrooms have old-fashioned tubs or whirlpool tubs built into marble flooring. Bathrooms are another great place for functional mosaic wall, countertop, sink or floor tiles. For the very ornate, a Moorish wooden arch can be placed over the “canopy” style bathtub, with sconces and lanterns providing the lighting for this breathtaking room.

Bedrooms can benefit from the beautiful headboards, armoires, mirrors and chests we have to offer. You’ll want to keep this room simple and basic, for the most part, to aid in nighttime relaxation. Choose one or two main items and keep the walls and bedspreads a neutral terra cotta, olive, pale blue or gold. Lamps are a nice way to add a subtle splash of artistic design, without overdoing it.

The backyard garden can benefit from Mediterranean furniture as well. The King’s Fountain will be the centerpiece of your yard, providing the tranquil sounds of running water. Building a wooden archway and weaving white lights and a vine-growing plant like ivy is another stunning arrangement. Many of our tables – like “Sahara Sand” or “Emerald Nights” – were built out of sturdy materials to withstand outdoor elements.

The great thing about choosing a Mediterranean theme for your home, is that every room will end up looking different. At the end of the day, you don’t want your home to look crowded and cluttered with a circus of conflicting themes and patterns; you want something stylish, unique, relaxing and quintessentially “you.”

A Buyer’s Guide to an 8 Seater Dining Table Set

[ad_1]

Purchasing a dining table for your dream home is not a small investment, in fact, it secures an important place in the family for years to come. Even though today, there is a culture of having nuclear families, still some families either live together or have too many guests arriving frequently. For them, an 8 seater dining table is not only a furniture item but a necessity. In the present scenario, many people who work outside their hometowns or country, do not have their families and relatives living nearby. In that case, their friends become their families, with whom they go for parties and dinners. This party culture makes way for house parties or dinner parties. In such a situation a 4 or 6 seater dining cannot accommodate many people at the same time.

As the buyers today live their life with the motto ‘Work hard and party harder’, therefore they have a busy schedule because of which they can not spare time to buy things offline or spending hours at the retail showrooms. So, to choose an appropriate dining table at ease, the buyers now have the option of purchasing furniture online. There are various designs, color, shapes, etc. But, still, the customers are in the dilemma as to what type of material of table, color or the design of chairs would complement the interiors of their dining room. Here are a few important points that might prove to be useful for the buyers while opting for their dining table set.

Durability is The Axis

While purchasing an 8-seater dining table set, the customers must know that it is a long-term asset and can’t be swapped very often. As it is a one-time investment, so it’s durability must be taken care of. A solid wood furniture piece crafted out of mahogany, teak, maple, walnut, etc. is the sturdiest of all. While, on the other hand, a dining table made up of plywood may be economical but has a very short lifespan, and it demands repair within a short time spell. Thus, if you host parties every weekend and entertain a bunch of guests, then you should go in for a solid wood furniture.

Glass Top Can Be a Perfect Blend

Every home’s interior reflects the owner’s personality. As everyone has different personality traits and so it is evident that their decor will also vary. But, if you wish to have a standard 8 seater dining table set, then buying a sober design with a glass top would be a perfect choice. A solid wood table combined with a glass top can match with many interior themes may it be traditional or modern. The glass reflects back light, thus highlighting your dining space and also adding up a serene feeling to the area. If you use tempered glass, then it will be an advantage as your table would become scratch proof and durable at the same time.

Easy to Transport Designs

Some people have transferable jobs and at present in the corporate world, you never know when you would have to switch from one job to another. It means that you need to have an 8 seater dining table set that can be easily transported from one place to another without the worry of being damaged. So, instead of bulky designs chose for the light weight and fold-able designs that can be transported easily.

Black and White are The Evergreen Colors

Anything black or white catches our eyes instantly as they gel up well with every interior and color. Whether you have a modern open kitchen-cum-dining space or a separate dining room, these colors can be used as an amalgamation of each other or in combination with some other contrasting colors. Either way, it will perfectly blend with your decor.

Knowing the tips mentioned above, one can easily recognize his demands, and this can help a lot in narrowing down the choices. The clearer the visualization you have in your mind for the perfect furniture item that you wish to have, the easier and worthier the investment will be.

Benefits of Owning An Office Chair Mat

The office chair mat, a key piece of furniture necessary for any work environment that often gets forgotten when purchasing new additions for the office. They are often perceived as a luxury purchase rather than a necessity, and as something that can be purchased at a later point in time if really needed. While you may have preconceived notions about office chair mats, they are actually a key piece of furniture that should be taken into consideration when purchasing new items for both your work and home office. Having one in any work environment is beneficial for a number of reasons including floor protection, appearance purposes, personal safety, ergonomic benefits, and ease of mobility.

The primary purpose of owning a chair mat is to protect the surface that you roll on with your office chair. No matter what surface your office chair currently sits on, such as hardwood floors, carpet, or linoleum, there are mats designed specifically for each of the aforementioned. Office chair casters can easily scratch hardwood floors, leave imprint marks in carpet, and also damage the quality of your carpet from the consistent rolling. In fact, many carpet manufacturers will void their warranty if an office chair will be used on it without the use of a chair mat. Carpet mats typically come with a set of cleats located underneath the chair mat that allow the mat to stay firm and in place when rolling across. Mats for hardwood floors or linoleum do not have the cleats underneath the mat, however their weight allows for the mat to stay in one place rather than sliding around as one might fear.

The addition of a chair mat to an office instantaneously creates an elegant and clean appearance. Many come with a clear finish making them less noticeable for those that are apprehensive about having your chair mat take attention away from the overall design of your office and allows the beauty of your flooring to show through. They can compliment your office design or stand out with the option for colorful and unique designs that are provided by some chair mat manufacturers. Some unique mat designs include bamboo, zebra print, a world map, peacock print, colorful circles, and many more. They are also available in different shapes and sizes depending on what your office needs; if you have smaller work area then you may opt for a smaller sized chair mat. If your work area requires rolling across a larger surface area, then you may want to opt for a larger mat or a mat that differs from the traditional rectangle shape and try an arc or ellipse shape instead.

Chair mats often bring up the concern for personal safety, for example, many people often do not look where they are walking and may be worried about tripping over their chair mat. The same can be said for walking in the dark at night in your home office and risking falling over from catching an edge on your mat. While cheaper mats do come with straight edges that can be a safety concern, there are plenty of higher quality mats available that come standard with rounded protective edges designed specifically so people do not trip over them. Rounded or beveled edges are also helpful for a smooth transition to the carpet or floor when rolling off the mat.

Chair mats are ergonomically beneficial in preventing leg fatigue and ease of movement. If you currently use your office chair on an unprotected carpeted surface, then you have most likely already felt the pressure and struggle that it takes to roll from once spot to another. With the help of a mat, gliding from one spot to another is a simple task rather than having to utilize your leg muscles to give you the momentum to move on the carpet. Repetitive pushing with one's leg muscles can cause unnecessary leg and back pain from over exerting oneself.

Purchasing a chair mat is a worthwhile investment for assurance that your floors and carpets will be protected and unharmed from your office furniture. While getting new flooring or carpets can put a huge dent in your budget, buying a chair mat is very affordable with even the highest quality of chair mats usually falling below the one hundred-dollar threshold. Your legs will also thank you from relieving the amount of pressure necessary to get from one place to another when rolling in your office chair. If anything, this useful addition will keep your floors clean and looking beautiful.

Tips on Choosing Boardroom Tables

There are a number of items that need to be included in the design of any meeting room. You need to have some type of chairs, as well as a table. Boardroom tables come in a number of different shapes and sizes to meet the different needs of the companies that use them.

First you will want to figure out what size of table you need, which will require you to determine just how many people you need to be able to fit around the table. This in some part will limit your options. You also need to measure the room to determine the size of table that will comfortably fit in the room. Between these two numbers you should be able to get a better idea of what types of boardroom tables would be best.

If you have a small office and don't need to have a large table, round boardroom tables are nice since everyone can see everyone else. Square tables and octagon tables are also options. Those who have a more rectangular room or who need to be able to fit more people at the table should consider oval, rectangular, or boat shaped tables. Those who frequently break up into small groups might want to have a number of smaller tables, perhaps ones that can be pushed together to make a larger table for when everyone needs to meet together.

Once you have determined the size and shape of table you need for your boardroom, you will need to see what is available that falls within your budget. Try to choose something made out of materials that will complement the rest of the decor in the room. Keep in mind the activities that will need to be carried out in the room as well so that you make sure to leave enough room and choose suitable furniture. You don't want something that doesn't have a protective coating if people are going to be eating and drinking at the table, and you will want the chairs to be easy to clean and not likely to stain as well. If people need to move around you will want to leave more room around the edges of the table so that this is easy to do.

Tips on Buying a Bedroom Furniture Set

Buying a new bedroom furniture set can be a chore. Who has the time these days to go comparison shopping to big box furniture stores, wholesale stores, discount furniture stores, and designer furniture stores in search of the perfect bedroom set?

Here are the basics you should know before you buy.

Cost: The sky is the limit when it comes to bedroom furniture sets, especially if you start looking at designer furniture, expensive wood materials, leathers, and etc. For those with budgets, a basic set including a frame, headboard, and 1-2 nightstands can be purchased for around $500. A bedroom set can also save you time and money because you will spend less when buying a set and you won’t have to shop around for individual pieces to match and complete your room.

Styles: The style you choose for your set will set the tone for your bedroom. Do you want something practical, fun, light like a storage bedroom set? Are you looking for something traditional like a four-poster bed set? Maybe a bed set with an upholstered headboard? Something modern that is platform-style which is low to the ground? Knowing what style you prefer will help you make a decision more quickly.

Size: Most bedroom furniture sets come in full-sized, queen-sized, or king-sized. As the central focal point of a bedroom, deciding on a size is not only based on what size you prefer, but also the size of your room and how much of a statement you want to make. Do you need space for bookshelves? A work desk? A reclining chair for reading?

Typical bedroom set pieces: Many bedroom sets begin with a bed frame and headboard. Bedroom sets can go up to 6 additional pieces that could include: night or bedside tables, dressers, chests drawers, mirrors, bookcases, and storage benches. Buying bedroom furniture set is often more aesthetically appealing because additional pieces will match your bed frame.

Designer or non-designer? Some of the most popular household brands today include South Shore, Modus Nevis, Prepac, Young American, and American Drew. When it comes to designer bedroom furniture sets, most of your guests won’t notice whether something is designer or not – but they will notice when your bedroom set is good quality. Generally speaking, better quality sets will cost you more but will also last you longer.

Kids’ bedroom sets: Last but not least, if you’re looking for a bedroom set for kids, it’s better to go simpler and choose something more affordable because the furniture will wear quickly. Choose additional pieces that are practical, that will actually be used, and a style that will stand the test of time – that means no to the race car bed.

Good luck!

Classic Car History – The 1959 Cadillac Series 62

The 1959 Cadillac was the brainchild of Designer Harley Earl, who drew on the inspiration of American space travel and rockets for his design. The 59 Cadillac was the pinnacle of the American auto design excess. With tail fins that rose a full 42 inches off the ground, rocket flare tail lights, quad headlights and massive chrome bumpers, a body length of over 20 ft, this was the ultimate Cadillac for grabbing attention. The '59's outrageous fins are accentuated by its very low profile, which is 3 inches lower that the '58 model's already low profile.

Harley Earl was directly responsible for the design of 50 million vehicles and completely changed the face of the American automobile in the 1950's. No single man has had such an impact on the shape of American auto design and no one man has been guilty of so many design excesses. Included in his space-themed design were other images such as chrome denture like grilles, dashboards that looked like they belonged to jet fighters with dozens of switches and controls, bumpers protrusions known as "Dagmars", hood ornaments which looked like missile launchers.

The 1959 Cadillac is an American icon. You will see this year model displayed in many 50's styled diners and restaurants. Hard Rock cafe always has either a 1959 or 1960 Cadillac displayed in their restaurants. The 59 also starred in many films, like in the Clint Eastwood movie "Pink Cadillac". The 59 Cadillac was a monument to American optimism in the 1950's; it was in fact the "American Dream". Who wouldn't love to drive one of these today? Today you will be hard pressed to find a restored 59 convertible for less that $ 70,000 with many of them selling for well over 100K.

Some of the features of the 59 Series 62 Cadillac included power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, central locking, tinted glass, and some options include headlight dimmers (autronic eye), electrically operated windows, seat adjust, and trunk. Some of the other models available included the 8 seater Fleetwood Limo, and the Eldorado Biarritz which is the most valuable '59 Cadillac model.
