Atlanta’s Chastain Park Amphitheatre is one of the city’s most popular outdoor concert venues. The small amphitheatre is located in the Buckhead area of the city, in Atlanta’s largest public park. Chastain Park shows are known for their relaxed atmosphere and al fresco dining experience. The majority of concerts at the venue are booked from May-September, and attending a Chastain concert has become an Atlanta summer tradition for many people. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra promotes many concerts at Chastain Park Amphitheatre.
Top entertainers from a variety of musical genres regularly perform at Chastain. The 2012 calendar includes such diverse artists as Sting, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson, The Temptations, Seal, B.B. King, Barry Manilow, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers and Chicago. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is performing concerts this summer with Abba and John Williams. Concert subscription packages are available. Ticket prices vary depending on the show and the seating set up. Lawn seating is the least expensive, followed by rear orchestra and orchestra seating. Box seats and Terrace level seats are more expensive. Single concert tickets may be purchased at the Box Office, online or through Ticketmaster outlets.
The seating configuration at Chastain depends upon the concert. For some events tables are set up on the Plaza and Terrace levels. Most tables seat six people. In addition to table seating, these concerts will also have orchestra seats and general lawn seating. At events with no tables, seating is row-on-row formation or lawn seating. Patrons that purchase lawn seating are allowed to bring blankets, but no lawn chairs. Chastain Park Amphitheatre is handicap accessible.
Concert attendees may bring their own food, beverages, and coolers if the concert is designated as having table seating. Many people arrive early and bring a picnic. Food concessions are available throughout the venue, or food may be preordered from two catering companies. Proof of the Pudding and Glorious Events offer appetizers, full course dinners, and desserts. Beer, wine, mixed drinks, sodas, and bottled water are available from concessionaires. No food may be brought in for shows with row-on-row seating. Patrons at those shows are allowed to bring in a one liter non-alcoholic, factory sealed plastic beverage container.
Chastain Park Amphitheatre is located at 4469 Stella Drive, off Powers Ferry Road in Atlanta. Parking is available in four lots, at a cost of $15 per vehicle. Tailgating is not allowed in the parking lots. All shows take place rain or shine. There are no refunds for rain. Rain ponchos and small umbrellas are allowed.
